We believe Renfrewshire Council made a monumental mistake not applying for City status in 2022 when we'd come so close in the 2021 City of Culture race. Our public image was sky high and our historical importance as the most important town in Scotland would have assured the City honour for Paisley.
With so many paisley buddies already registered and notable names agreeing that we must do (all we can) to be ready when King Charles III gives the green light to the next competition.
We are confident a community initiative working as a voice for the people working to rectify a decision that directly affects townsfolk will show Paisley's real passion and the people's desire to build our economy and have a right to much greater say and involvement in the decisions and services that affects their lives and the places they live.

Is needed, because having influence over decisions that directly affect your life is core to democracy but also because communities have greater insight into their own needs than those imposing decisions from outside. Local community campaigns empower people and remind local government that sometimes we are better placed to make the correct decisions and placing too much power in the hands of central government, state officials or big business undermine these basic principles.
